How Oprah Winfrey Impacted my Career
I can't express to you how much of an impact Oprah has made in my life and my career! I always knew she was such an amazing woman, but I realized she was even more amazing when I attended her closing keynote presentation at the QuickBooks Connect Conference last November. I was so impressed by her and completely in awe when I realized we both have the same spiritual mindset. It truly was life changing.
I remember leaving the conference thinking my life was going to change in a BIG way and believe me when I tell you it has already started to happen!
This one quote that really stood out to me during her presentation was this:
"Concerning all the acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas, and splendid plans; the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves to a whole stream of events, issues from the decision, raising one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way" - Goethe
One of the core messages I took away was that nothing can stop you from reaching your dreams when your vision, passion, and purpose have good intentions and will be used to better the world in some way. The universe will align and everything will naturally align and fall into place. Oprah's presentation inspired me to start my venture KeyLyme to educate the community about lyme disease, how debilitating it really can be and ways you can prevent it from affecting your life. And once I made this decision, countless opportunities literally fell into my lap!
To give you a little background, I struggled with a Lyme disease diagnosis for over a year and was finally diagnosed after multiple doctors insisted I was perfectly healthy. Even though I was going through this struggle, I knew there was a reason behind the madness and that God had a plan. I had a very vivid dream that solidified my path and purpose in life, which is to help people struggling with Lyme and to become an advocate for the disease so that no one has to go through the struggle I did or that I’ve seen in the Lyme community.
Oprah played a huge part in inspiring the confidence for me to move forward with KeyLyme. I attended the QuickBooks Connect conference in November 2014 and launched KeyLyme in March of 2016. Since then the business has taken off and more importantly, I have received emails and posts from lyme patients whose lives have been touched. I'm incredibly humbled that my story and experience has already touched several lives and directly helped other people. I'm so excited to move through this journey and help others just as Oprah has helped so many.
